Tipperary
Hard luck to Darragh McCarthy and Mikey Bevans who were part of the Tipperary senior hurling team and management in the league final defeat to Cork last Sunday in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Darragh has set himself a high standard this year and while the final didn’t go his or Tipperary’s way, he can be very proud of his first league campaign at senior level where he finished with 2-48 to his name which means he was the top scorer in Division 1A.
However, Darragh - along with Jake Hackett - did have success in Cork earlier last week when the U20s defeated Cork in round two of the Munster U20 championship to put them back in contention after a round one loss.
Hard luck also to Patrick Hackett who played the full game for the Tipperary minors in their loss to Clare in round two of the Munster Minor Hurling Championship in Ennis last Saturday afternoon.

The lads played Roscrea on Tuesday, April 8 in Roscrea at the time of going to print.
U15
Our U15A footballers recorded brilliant wins over Kilruane MacDonaghs in the North Championship last week. Well done lads. The U15A team will be in action again this coming Wednesday, April 10 against Newport in Toomevara.
U17
Our U17 hurlers lost out to a strong Cashel King Cormacs team on Sunday morning in Toomevara in the Tipperary U17 County Hurling League. The lads will switch back to football this coming Sunday when they travel to Cahir for round two of the County Football League. Best of luck lads.

Matt Hassett
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Matt Hassett, a true legend of Toomevara GAA and Tipperary hurling. His lifelong dedication to the game, both on and off the field, left an indelible mark on our club, our county, and the wider GAA community. Matt’s passing marks the end of over 75 years of dedicated service to the GAA, particularly to his beloved Toomevara GAA club.
From an early age, Matt developed a deep love for hurling. After winning a North Intermediate medal in 1955, he went on to claim four North Senior Championships between 1958 and 1962. He was also a key figure in Toomevara’s historic County Final victory over Thurles Sarsfields in 1960. In 1961, Matt had the tremendous honor of captaining Tipperary to All-Ireland victory.
That same year, he also lifted the National League trophy and the Oireachtas Cup, further cementing his place in GAA history. A talented footballer as well, Matt won three County Senior Football medals between 1958 and 1961.
Beyond his playing career, Matt made significant contributions as an administrator. In the early 1950s, he was appointed club secretary, later serving as secretary of the North Tipperary Board from 1964 to 1968. He went on to become treasurer of the County Board and, until his passing, held the esteemed position of President of the County Tipperary Board, the North Tipperary Board, and Toomevara GAA Club.
Throughout his life, Matt was admired not only for his skill and leadership but also for his unwavering sportsmanship, quick wit, and great sense of humor. Above all, his humility endeared him to many.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. On behalf of everyone at Toomevara GAA, we extend our deepest sympathies to Matt’s family, friends, and all who mourn his passing. His contributions to our club and to the wider GAA community will never be forgotten. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
