SPECIAL NOTES FROM LATEST NORTH BOARD MEETING
REFEREES
· There remains a shortage of referees and a new referee course is being held shortly. It is CRITICAL that clubs continue to search for people who may wish to be referees. As many of our championships are now run as leagues this will be a challenge going forward if additional referees are not forthcoming. Anyone interested should contact the club secretary asap.
UMPIRES at U 19 / U 21 Championship Games
· To assist the running of some fixtures each club is asked to identify 2-4 people who would if asked serve as umpires when games are held in their venue and where the referee will bring 2 of their own umpires. (This will assist referees who sometimes find it difficult to get their 4 usual umpires to attend several games in the one week) Applicants must be over 18. Almost certainly will receive a North Board pass for the year.
BORD NA N-OG
· Currently Bord na nOg has no vice chairperson or secretary and the senior secretary is not in a position to continue as acting secretary.
· If any person is interested in either role please let me know asap. The post of secretary can be shared if a few people volunteer to share the workload.
CHILD PROTECTION
· All coaches / support personnel must comply with the GAA and Legislation where any player in their care is Under 18:
· Coaches must have a GAA recognised qualification for coaching.
· All coaches / support personnel must have done Safeguarding Course or updated it if need be
· All coaches / support personnel must be Garda Vetted
· Vetting in other areas (school or soccer club or youth groups) is NOT sufficient
· In the event of an audit (possible through Foireann) and a breach of rule occurs ALL club activities will be ceased until a full audit is undertaken and the club be seen to be compliant.
SENIOR NORTH CHAMPIONSHIP timing will be determined as Tipperary progress in the Munster Championship. At present 7 teams are entered. One team will get a bye. From 2026 forward if the championship has an uneven number the reigning champions will get the bye.
